The Walking Dead comics were originally published every month in black and white. Written by the Americans Robert Kirkman and drawn by Tony Moore on October of 2003, The Walking Dead tells the stories of a group of people that are trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. And it is curious because in both, the comics and the TV show, they never use the word “zombie” and refers to the creatures as the “walkers”.
The fans of the comics were very happy when in 2010 the American channel AMC launched the first season of the TV show “The Walking Dead”. Since then, its success has been undeniable; whats is more, the TV show has won these prestigious awards: Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Award, Directors Guild of America Award, Satellite Award, Saturn Award, etc. Today, the TV series has aired seven complete seasons and they have already released the trailer for the upcoming new one (you can watch the trailer down below).
But the show´s huge succeed has come along with major
changes respecting the plot and the personalities of the characters. Some could
argue that all the changes done in the series were not necessary and that they stand by the comic´s version. In the TV adaptation the scriptwriters even went
so far as creating new characters to improve the plot (such as Daryl Dixon and
Beth Green); and, surprisingly, both ended up as fan´s favorites.
On balance, the adaptation of the comics to the small screen
turned up to be a huge success, proving that the entertainment world is always
looking for interesting stories. And, although there are some disappointed fans
of the comics with the adaptation, the general response to the TV is overall positive.
